Dealing With Spam Calls on Your Mobile

At IQ Mobile, we understand how frustrating it can be to receive unwanted spam calls or messages. While we always work hard to protect our customers, unfortunately, there are limits to what we and BT can do about these types of calls.

Why We Can’t Block Spam Calls Directly

Spam calls often come from numbers generated or routed outside of the UK network. Because of this, BT (our network provider) cannot actively block or bar these calls before they reach your mobile.

We have raised this issue multiple times with BT, but the response remains the same: these calls cannot be stopped at the source.

What You Can Do

The best way to fight back against spam calls and texts is to report them.
All UK mobile customers can do this easily by using the 7726 service.

  • Text the spam number to 7726.
  • 7726 spells SPAM on your keypad, making it easy to remember.
  • You can forward both unwanted SMS messages and phone numbers that have called you.
  • There is no charge for using this service.

Your reports help UK mobile networks investigate and take action against persistent spammers.

Quick Tips

  • Don’t answer calls from numbers you don’t recognise.
  • Avoid giving personal details over the phone unless you are 100% sure of who you’re speaking to.
  • If a call feels suspicious, hang up and report it via 7726.
