Netgear AirCard Router configuration Guide.

Thanks for looking at IQ Mobile data SIMs, We have never officially sold the Netgear Aircard and although many of our customers use them we cannot confirm this guide is still 100% accurate as recent firmware updates may have changed the look and feel of the below guide which is for reference only. IQ Mobile cannot offer support on this device.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1) Unbox the device, check all the parts are present and insert the SIM.

Parts include - Router, Battery, Charge cable and back cover, quick start guide.

You will notice the SIM will only fit one way. The corner is cut off and slides under the metal housing pictured below.

The SIM is a MICRO SIM for this device which is the middle cut out from the SIMs original housing. Just pop it out until it is the middle version, as seen below you can see the SIM with corner cut off and slipped into it's housing in the second image.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 2) Once the SIM is inserted into the device you should put it back together by doing the following

            a) Inserting the battery, please ensure the gold pins on the battery align with the gold pins on the router.
            b) Make a note of the information inside on the little sticker at the top.
            c) Place the back cover back on.

This sticker shows four bits of key information which you should make a note of.

WiFi NAME SSID - This is the name of the Wi-Fi network and will be what you're looking for when connecting to the Wi-Fi from your devices such as your mobiles, tablets, laptops, smart speakers, satnavs and any device you're trying to use on the internet with this Wi-Fi device.
Please note ours here is called Telia-4G-BC8D yours will vary and may be a similar format but not the same name we suspect this example was purchased in Europe.

Security Key - This is essentially the WiFi password, your devices cannot connect to the WiFi without the WiFi key. So please be careful who you give this information to as you should only allow trusted devices on your WiFi to preserve your data, privacy and data allowances.
In this example, our security key is 98721326 on your device it will be different.

Password - This is the password for logging into the device. Not to be confused with the WiFi password for getting onto it's WiFi signal. You will only need this password for logging into the device when making changes to the settings. Other people do not need this password and should be for the main admin user only. In this example the Password is password and is case sensitive. Yours should be the same.

Then fully assemble the device to look like this:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 3) The next step is to switch it on and connect to it's WiFi, This is an important step! Many people try to configure these devices without connecting to it's Wi-Fi.

In this example we have used a laptop, but the principal is the same from a phone, tablet, laptop and doesn't matter if you're apple, android or windows.

a) Open the Wi-Fi Menu
b) Find the Netgear Wi-Fi name/SSID, in this case Telia-4G-BC8D in your case it will look similar but not the same name but should be printed on the sticker detailed in the earlier steps.
c) Once clicked it will ask for the WiFi password, in this case known as securityKey - 98721326 and obtained from the sticker mentioned earlier.

NOTE: As soon as we connected to the Wi-Fi it loaded up a screen without any prompt.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 4) Accessing the interface to check or enter the settings.

a) Once connected to it's WiFi, it should automatically pop the setup screen.

b) If it doesn't try typing netgear.aircard/index.html into your internet browseraddress bar.
(note when typing this address into the browser it is in the address bar, not a google search like this:)

When you get to the right screen, you will be prompted for the Netgear password, this is also printed on the sticker (password).

c) Once you're logged in, it should look like the below dashboard. NOTE: It might vary depending on software version.

NOTE: The Netgear we were configuring popped up an 'APN Setup Required' message without prompt.

d) Once you're on the main screen you will notice menus down the side and across the top. We are focusing in the 'network' menu which you can see in the picture below. You can see there are four tabs - Preferences, APN, SIM Security and Status Details. Again we are focusing on APNThese menus allow you to add the settings for the SIM you are using. In our case an IQ Mobile data SIM.

Once populated it will look like this:

PRESS SAVE.

These Which will then give you the decision which APN to have active, you can also see the 'Add' button in case you wanted to add an APN from another network provider.

This is all you really need to setup our SIM in a Netgear Aircard.

NETWORK SELECTION

This is a very useful function and it lives in the Network tab followed by the preferences section as shown above, this is especially useful when roaming. If you head to France or Spain as an example you might find the device automatically logs onto the first network it sees i.e. Orange in France, or Orange in Spain, sometimes there are better or faster alternatives such as Movistar in Spain, so using the manual network selection will allow you to choose the network or signal that works best. It's also useful to remember to change it back to auto from manual instead of leaving it in this state.

Note: This is not a mandatory step, but useful for the understanding and future use of this product whilst roaming/travelling.

To use press the 'Scan' button which should then return a list of networks or signals your device can see (as pictured below)

Then you simply select the chosen network as below and press submit.

For reference Our APN settings for an IQ Mobile SIM are as follows:

APN = everywhere

Authentication = PAP

Username = eesecure

Password = secure

If you use multiple SIMs then you can store multiple profiles in the router and swap between them.

It is worth noting the APN can be installed on this device using the touch screen as detailed below, but we found it very hard due to the screen size and responsiveness and found the web user interface to be a lot smoother and more functional.

End of setup.
