Teltonika RUTM51

We do not sell Teltonika devices, but have created a guide to get started on configuring your device with either an IQ Go SIM, or IQ Connect. First, you need to go through the following steps.

Step 1

Unbox the device, check all the parts are present and insert the SIM.

Parts include - Router, Power cable and SIM Trays.

You will notice the SIM will only fit one way. The SIM tray is highlighted with the yellow square above and will only fit one way.

The SIM is a NANO SIM for this device which is the smallest cut out from the SIMs original housing. Just pop it out until it is the smallest version, as seen below you can see the SIM with corner cut off and slipped into it's housing in the second image.

Step 2

Once the SIM is inserted into the device you should put it back together by simply pushing the SIM tray back in.
You should also make a note of the information on the sticker (usually on the back, as seen below).

This sticker shows four bits of key information which you should make a note of.

SSID (2.4GHz + 5GHz) - This is the name of the Wi-Fi network and will be what you're looking for when connecting to the Wi-Fi from your devices such as your mobiles, tablets, laptops, smart speakers, satnavs and any device you're trying to use on the internet with this Wi-Fi device. Please note ours here is called RUT_DBA8_2G (or 5G) yours will vary and may be a similar format but not the same name.

WiFi Password - This is essentially the WiFi password, your devices cannot connect to the WiFi without the WiFi key. So please be careful who you give this information to as you should only allow trusted devices on your WiFi to preserve your data, privacy and data allowances.
In this example, our WiFi key is w6U2BeSz on your device it will be different.

WebUI IP - http://192.168.1.1 - This is the address you will use to access the web portal for configuring the Teltonika.  NB: It isn't actually listed on the sticker,  but it is an vital piece of information for the following steps in this guide. It is extremely important that when you are trying to access this page to manage the router settings that you are connected to the ZTE's WiFi network or it will not be possible.

Password - This is the password for logging into the device. Not to be confused with the WiFi password for getting onto it's WiFi signal. You will only need this password for logging into the device when making changes to the settings. Other people do not need this password and should be for the main admin user only. In this example the Password is wU+6D*5b and is case sensitive. Yours will be different.

Step 3

The next step is to plug it in, switch it on and connect to it's WiFi, This is an important step!
Many people try to configure these devices without connecting to it's Wi-Fi.

In this example we have used a laptop, but the principal is the same from a phone, tablet, laptop and doesn't matter if you're apple, android or windows.

  1. Open the Wi-Fi Menu on your device
  2. Find the Teltonika Wi-Fi name, in this case RUT_DBA8_2G in your case it will look similar but not the same name.
  3. Once clicked it will ask for the WiFi password, in this case known as Wi-Fi Password - w6U2BeSz and obtained from the sticker mentioned earlier.

You have to connect to it's Wi-Fi to be able to log in and access it's settings.

Step 4

Accessing the interface to check or enter the settings.

Once connected to it's WiFi, Go to a web browser, it doesn't matter if you are using Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Edge any web browser should be fine. It is imperative you are connected to it's WiFi as per the previous step as this page will not be reachable or accessible if you're on your home WiFi connection.

Enter the address as http://192.168.1.1 when it finishes loading it should look like the below.
NOTE: when typing this address into the browser it is in the address bar, not a google search like this:

At first you will be presented with a password screen which is information provided on the sticker.

It makes you change the password on first login, so please make a note of it.

Once you're logged in, it should look like the above dashboard and will put you through a setup wizard.

The main menu has various options, buttons and menus. The key areas of note are within the yellow square highlighted above labelled 'System -> Setup wizard -> Mobile' - You will notice that the 'auto APN' is turned on and in most cases works first time. You can click the next button to the end of the setup wizard. IF the APN does not auto detect and you would like to manually enter one, or add additional settings for other SIM profiles, then you can turn the auto button off.

The APN settings menu, looks like this above, you can see there is a drop down in this picture so you can store multiple profiles and SIM settings.

IQ Mobile has 2 Travel SIM types.

1) IQ Go, which has the following APN settings:
APN - everywhere
Username - eesecure
Password - secure
Authentication - PAP

2) IQ Connect (has a different APN, so please confirm the service you have from us)
APN - globaldata
Note: This SIM does not have a username/password.

You can enter the correct settings for your service in the APN Section, and once you have finished you would then press 'Next' located in the bottom right, all the way to the last step, where the setup wizard ends.

End of setup.
